I wanted to tell you about the wonderful litlle guy our family adopted from the local animal welfare center. 7 years ago we adopted a shi tzu from a rescue organization and were able to have him for 5 years before he passed on. He had been found in Knoxville TN as a stray, very loving dog, but TERRIBLE to groom. Twice a year he had to be anesthetized for his grooming and teeth cleaning. We tried once to send him to the groomers at our vet and it was so traumatic to him that I said never again. I tried a t home with lots of patience and he ended by biting me so that I should have gotten stitches. Besides his grooming fears he was a good dog. After he passed on, we waited for 2 years to get another dog. Our local PAWS posts adoptable animals on their website, they listed a black shi tzu puppy that was being fostered, we made an appt to see this "shi tzu and guess what?? He was schnauzer. The lady said when he arrived at PAWS he was in such bad shape they could not tell what kind of dog he was. (he had no hair). Well we have had our black and silver guy for 3 months now and we love him. I have done lots of research on schnauzers, bought several books and he fits the character to the T, I thought I would always have a shi tzu but now I have been won over to the schnauzer side.

p.s. Elliott has no grooming fears, Thank goodness, I have clipped him twice and as long as he has a treat every once in a while he is fine with it.
